Geoff Griffiths is a professional rugby player in the RFU Championship for Esher RFC. Below he will stop talking in the third person and introduce himself.

After graduating in English Language and Linguistics from the University of Sheffield, I moved down to Devon to play full-time for Plymouth Albion RFC in the second teir of english rugby – The RFU Championship. After enjoying my first year I stayed on and was appointed vice-captain for the 2009/10 season.

Following a couple of serious injuries I decided to be proactive in seeking new challenges and went for a change of lifestyle after the 09/10 Championship season. I moved to London to join Esher Rugby club following their promotion back in to the Championship after dominating National League One. Loving my new surroundings, I re-signed for the 11/12 season after feeling extremely settled both at Esher RFC and in London.

I can usually be found plying my trade in the centre but has the ability to play almost anywhere in the back-line. Jack of all trades, master of none. A recurring foot injury stalled my progress somewhat in Plymouth after two operations, lot of time off and some serious hours of rehab, the move to London seems to have put these problems in the past.

A keen rugby sevens player, I regularly represent Samurai International, one of the world’s premier invitational teams and, after a successful 2010 season that included winning the inaugural National Sevens Series, I was honoured to captain the side in the 2011 Amsterdam 7s.

I have previously written a player column for the BBC sport website and currently combine playing for Esher with working for a top Central London digital agency. After over a year of blogging silence I felt it was time to practice what I preach again and resume writing.
